Born out of Sacramento’s thriving art community, each floor of Fort Sutter Hotel pays tribute to a different local artist with striking guest room prints. In addition, our hallways feature rotating art carefully curated from local artists that embody the spirit of Midtown.
Micah Crandall-Bear’s abstract landscape paintings examine Earth’s intrinsic resources and our disposition toward their accelerated transformation. His ‘wet-on-wet’ method is a contemporary application of ‘alla prima,’ a traditional technique used mostly in oil painting, where layers of wet paint are applied to previous layers of wet paint.
As a Sacramento, California native, Crandall-Bear established his artistic roots locally and continues to promote the growth of his community. His work is represented in the United States, Asia, and Europe. He has been featured in ArtSlant, Art Maze Mag, American Art Collector Magazine, Forbes and more.

Raphael Delgado's work explores a broad range of styles and mediums. His highly personal imagery is consistently inventive and ever-changing, but often focuses on both human and animal forms, abstract designs, and universal symbols.

Pat Mahony's landscapes are a compilation of visual and emotional memories of vistas seen. She renders an image on the canvas as if it were a feeling or recollection rather than a detailed depiction. Her work hovers between abstraction and representation. Saturated tones, lush abstraction and a brevity of brush strokes suggest an absence of wasted motion.

Kim Squaglia's paintings consist of multiple layers of delicately rendered biomorphic patterns layered between coats of resin. She builds on each surface with areas of saturated fields and lines of color. The imagery references the forms and space of biology, now transformed into delicate web-like tendrils within a murky atmosphere. The overall effect is the impression of ambiguous yet effective spacial depth and movement.

Susan Tonkin Riegel loves the language of symbols, archetypes, numbers, and letters. Her process is spontaneous and intuitive as she allows her materials to guide her and rhythmic world beats to fuel her creative process, energizing her to draw, paint, cut, rip, paste, and sew. She makes marks instinctively, reflecting what she is internalizing in the moment as well as her underlying aspiration to keep each piece raw, direct, and underworked.
